Hello! My name is Emily Leonard; welcome to my online portfolio.
I am a recent Master's graduate from the iSchool at the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign, with a specialization in K-12 librarianship. I graduated with my master's degree in May 2019. I received my Bachelor's degree in German and Communication Arts from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2012. In my previous career, I worked in digital advertising and still love to keep up with technology trends. In my spare time, I enjoy being outdoors - camping, fishing, hiking, waterskiing, and running. I love to read and will read just about everything, but some of my all-time favorites include Harry Potter by JK Rowling, An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir, Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut, and Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams. |
Library Philosophy
My library philosophy is that the library and the librarian are there to serve everyone. Creating a welcoming and friendly environment, providing access to a large variety of resources, and including all students and staff are essential functions of the school librarian. The school library should be the hub of the building, where students and staff can collaborate, learn, and engage with a variety of materials, technology, and people. I believe that the school librarian can help all students and staff succeed.
